Why Bother?

A few days ago, I was having an especially discouraging day and had the thought flit through my mind: “why bother?” What was I wondering what I should bother about? My healthy journey. I thought to myself “I have been this way all my life and I am in my 50’s, why bother trying to change now?”. Thankfully, I had been reading Shad Helmstetter’s book: What to say when you talk to yourself and I recognized this as negative self-talk. So I immediately started working on turning it around to positive self-talk.
Why bother? Well, there are hundreds of reasons. Just a few of them:
-I want to feel like playing with my grandchildren.
-I want the energy to do the things I love to do, like write and teach.
-It helps me deal with the stress and grief that I am going through right now.

Do you ever catch yourself having these kind of thoughts? If so, how do you work through them?

My passion is to share the importance of playing, and not just as a child, but as an adult also. It is so important to take the time to play and be active. Our children are losing that.
