Gordon suggests some alternatives to complaining:
- Practice gratitude. Count your blessings. It’s impossible to be blessed and stressed at the same time.
- Praise others. Instead of complaining about others, focus on what they are doing right. This is also an important strategy to use with children! Dr. Becky Bailey says, “What you focus on, you get more of”. If you constantly focus on what others are doing wrong, that is all you’re going to see.
- Focus on success. Gordon suggests starting a success journal where you write down one great thing about your day.
- Let go. Focus on what you can change and let the other stuff go.
- Pray and meditate.
