healthy holidays!

Over the last couple of years, I have changed how we do our holiday parties here in my child care home. My parents have helped out in a big way. We have one special treat but the rest of our food is healthy. For our Easter party today, we had strawberries, fresh pineapple, grapes, apples, cheese, crackers, apple juice, and an Easter pudding treat that one of the moms made.

In February for our Valentine’s party, each child brought an assigned fruit and we made Friendship Fruit Salad. Each child cut up the fruit they brought and added it to the bowl, and then we stirred it all together. The kids loved it and still talk about doing it several weeks later.

How do you celebrate holidays in a healthy way?

I LOVE this idea and am so glad you serve your kids healthy foods!

My passion is to share the importance of playing, and not just as a child, but as an adult also. It is so important to take the time to play and be active. Our children are losing that.
