Favorite Children's Book?

Let's go back to our childhood today and think about our favorite children's book. It can be one from your childhood or one you loved reading to your children.

I don't actually remember any early childhood books from my childhood. Maybe because I started reading chapter books so early? I loved The Bobsey Twins and Nancy Drew was my absolute favorite. I remember we used to go to the library in Mangum during the summer and I'd check out books and bring them home and read them all that day. My mom would get so annoyed and remind me that we weren't going back for 2 weeks. I'd just say "It's okay, I can read them again".

I remember my second grade teacher Mrs. Denney reading a chapter book to us about a dinosaur; seems like the dinosaur's name was Denny? I'll have to ask her what the book was because now it's bugging me that I can't remember lol.

From my own children (and child care); I remember enjoying Green Eggs and Ham and The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss, Are you my Mother by P.D. Eastman, Berenstein Bears books, and Love you Forever by Robert Munsch.

I think the book you are thinking of is “ Danny and the Dinosaur” by Syd Hoff.
My favorite book to read to my son was Sandra Boynton “ The Going to Bed Book.”
My fourth grade teacher Miss Hood dedicated the last half hour of school for silent reading.
She brought in snacks for her students to enjoy during that time.
My favorite book was “ Ramona and Beezus” by Beverly Cleary.

I loved Beverly Cleary books! There wasn't much I didn't love reading though lol.

I do know the Danny and the Dinosaur book but I don't think that's the one I remember Mrs. Denney reading to us. Because the one she read to us was a chapter book and took quite a while to read. I need to ask her and see if she remembers :)

My passion is to share the importance of playing, and not just as a child, but as an adult also. It is so important to take the time to play and be active. Our children are losing that.
