Decision Fatigue

I just finished listening to an audio book by Anne Bogel (Modern Mrs. Darcy blogger) called "Don't Overthink It". One of the things she talks about is decision fatigue. She suggests putting some things in our life on auto pilot to help avoid this issue. We only have so much "bandwidth" for making decisions and if we use it all up on little decisions, it can make it that much harder to make big decisions.

What are some examples of things you can put on autopilot? For me, I created a weekly to-do list that has a list of the things I do everyday in it with lines where I can add more items that come up. This saves me time and energy re-writing the same list over and over each day. I also created a packing list on my phone for when I am going out of town. I did this after I went out of town a couple of different times without my nightgown (and had to sleep in my clothes) or once without my nice clothes to wear when I was teaching. Creating this packing list saved me the time of making a packing list every time I was going out of town and helped me remember most things...I mean I still forget or miss stuff lol, but it's better.

What things do you put on autopilot in your own life?

My passion is to share the importance of playing, and not just as a child, but as an adult also. It is so important to take the time to play and be active. Our children are losing that.
